One of my vendors for a highly specialized piece of software only supports Parallels and not VMware. I just bought a copy of parallels and installed it on my MacPro with SSDs and 96 gig of memory. I agree with the other comments here about Parallels' business practices being pretty slimy, however, and it's possible I would have been just as happy doing all these things using VMWare. I am using my Bootcamp VM, so if I eventually run into a game that I simply must play and it doesn't play well in Parallels, I can just boot into Windows and go. The games run better than i had hoped, so I am very happy with it.

I generally keep Windows 7 running full screen and just use the 2 finger swipe to switch between Lion and Windows. Yes, I hate the Kaspersky ads, but the integration with Lion is wonderful. I mainly only use Windows to play PC games, so the extra 3D game performance (according to the game benchmarking reviews I read) pointed to Parallels as being superior to VMWare for that purpose. Not a nice way to start things off at all.

Yep, in my case I didn't realize I should uncheck the box, so they hit me with the extra $7.

I figure I've got my copy of Parallels saved on my Time Machine somewhere if I ever need to get access to it again quickly.

I just unchecked the box and saved myself $7. My problem with the download service is that it wasn't clear during checkout exactly what it was for.
